Was Inspiring
To the Editor:
I attended the play “Rumble in the Mountain” presented by the drama class of Rappahannock County High School Saturday evening. May 31, and came away very inspired and proud of what these young people had accomplished. Working under the direction of Miss Cindy Cummins, teacher of the drama class, and Ms. Laurie Marshall, Artist-in-Residence, they created together their own script for a play dealing with conflict resolution and then performed superbly in its production.
The mediums of art, writing, dance, music and acting were all woven together into a fast moving tale about a real life problem that the youth could identify with and how it could be positively resolved. Using the analogy of a conflict to that of an earthquake, the students encouraged their listeners to believe that just as new mountains can be formed from such natural disasters so too can closer relationships and deeper understandings develop from conflicts effectively resolved.
