Do not attempt to raise adulthood without givii thought to the future of the results. Birds are programmed by nature from the beginning to detect and avoid predators. This training cannot be duplicated by Homo sapiens. There have been exceptions to this as there are always exceptions with creatures with such a variety of individual behavior as in birds. It is best to plan to keep the bird for life. I know of only one person who has house broken a bird! That took a high degree of alertness and quick action.
It’s best to leave young birds where you find them if they have left the nest naturally. If not, be prepared for around-the-clock care and feeding. It is virtually impossible to duplicate the remarkably varied diet a young bird would receive in the wild. Young birds being raised in captivity often die for no apparent reason. It is usually inadequate diet that causes this death. Good luck in any case. May your impulse to rescue and care — and your wisdom — work together.
