Reflections on Fathers

Mothers get a lot of credit for the raising of children. Much ado is made about Mother’s Day. Consider:

“He who has no children knows not what love means.” Proverb

“It is a wise child that knows its own father.” Proverb

“One father is sufficient to govern a hundred children, and a hundred children are not sufficient to govern one father.” Proverb

“A father’s virtue is the child’s best inheritance.” Proverb

“Parents must give good example and reverent deportment in the face of their children. And all those instances of charity which usually endear each other — sweetness of conversation, affability, frequent admonition — all signification of love and tenderness, care and watchfulness, must be expressed towards children; that they ^ may look upon their parents as their friends and patrons, their defense and sanctuary, their treasure and their guide.” Jeremy Taylor

“I remember daddy’s hands how they held my momma tight, and patted my back for something done right. There are things that I’ve forgotten that I loved about the man, but I’ll always remember the love in daddy’s hands. Daddy’s hands were soft and kind when I was crying.
