Stand Up, Take A Bow
All those in Rappahannock who walked, helped raise money or in anyway contributed to the success of this year’s Relay For Life held on May 30 may stand up and take their bow.
Rappahannock, with its limited population, managed to raise almost a third of the total amount raised by the three counties, the others being Culpeper and Fauquier.
Consider for a moment how many people live in Culpeper and Fauquier. Culpeper uas an estimated population of 31,000 and Fauquier an estimated population of over 51,000. That’s a total of 82,000, as compared to about 7,200 in this county.
That says volumes about the generous spirit and ‘willingness to help your neighbor’ attitude in this county.
It also says something about the cancer survivors, now volunteers, who live here and help others battling the disease. They have turned a battle against a life-threatening ailment, and what can be a depressing and difficult time in any life, into an exercise in positive reinforcement, support and learning to accept the help and love of those around you.
