likely that voters soon will get at least some of the personal property tax relief they sought at the polls Nov. 4.
In the two weeks since Governor-elect Jim Gilmore’s landslide victory, officials from both parties have jumped on the tax-relief bandwagon.
Gov. George Allen already has instructed his budget staff to set aside money in the upcoming biennial budget to fund the initiation of Gilmore’s tax-relief proposal, a spokesman said Monday.
And the Democrats, having lost control of the state senate and hanging on to a precariously slim majority in the House of Delegates, are coming up with tax proposals of their own.
