We would like to express

appreciation on behalf of the Rappahannock Lions Club to the very special group of people who participated in our 1997 Grand Raffle and Dinner Dance. The Lions club held its fifth successful grand raffle party and raised $5,123 through the support of these great people.

Every penny raised from the public by the Lions is channeled right back into the community. Our event was among several worthy fundraising activities which were graciously supported by the community at large on Saturday, Nov. 8. It was held at Lakeside Caterers of Culpeper, with music provided by Quality Deejay Service.

Supporters purchased tickets at $100 per couple an enjoyed a dinner party which highlighted a delicious meal, dancing and the excitement of a draw down raffle, culminating in a chance to win a grand prize of $5,000.

Five $25 prizes, four $50 prizes and six $100 prizes were wpn by participants as the suspense of the finalists for the grand prize grew steadily. The excitement of the raffle peaked when the final four ticket holders got together and decided to split the grand prize, entitling each to a cool $1,250. ! Although not every participant of the event walked away with more money, everyone left a big winner: cheerfully providing the Lions the means to support the myriad of important public services from sight and hearing programs to scholastic and citizen programs and beyond. | The Lions motto is “We Serve.” The members of your i f
