shops and galleries in town where some shopkeepers such as Talk of the Town’s are spreading the Christmas spirit. There at the shop at 311 Gay Street — if you bring cans of food for the needy — the shop will give you a $5 gift certificate. Some of the shops will be staying open as late as 8 p.m.

To top off the day, enjoy a special Christmas dinner at the Washington Volunteer fire hall from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Tickets for the dinner are $15. Then attend The Theatre on Gay Street where there will be a performance at 8 p.m. of Dixieland Jazz from the Joe Rinaldi Quintet. Tickets are on sale and reservations are recommended. Call 675-1253.
