Colleges and Universities. The publication seeks to provide public recognition to campus leaders throughout the nation. Criteria for selection are scholarship, participation and leadership in academic and extra curricular activities, citizenship and service to the college. Certificates of recognition will be awarded to the students later in the year. Miss Jean Carter Moffett, daughter of Judge and Mrs. William Francis Moffett Jr. of Washington, will receive an award.
The annual Thanksgiving Day church services will be held on Thursday, Nov. 23 at 10 a.m. at the Reynolds Memorial Baptist Church in Sperryville.

Retired senior volunteers will be making Senior Discount Identification Cards on Tuesday, Dec. 1 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Rappahannock-Rapidan Community Services Center, 401 S. Main Street, Culpeper. Anyone over the age of 60 and living in Planning District Nine is eligible for the card which can be. used to obtain discounts at more than 100 local businesses and services.
The Sperryville Business Council is sponsoring a Blue Ridge Christmas celebration to kick off the traditional Christmas shopping season. The event is planned for next Friday through Sunday, Nov. 27-29.
Emmy Bailey was named as the new secretary of the Rappahannock 4-H Adventure Team after former secretary Janice Mitchell moved to Orange. Several new members were also welcomed onto the team.
