Supervisors for their careful consideration:
Whereas the majority of households on Yancey Road, by a margin of two to one, wish the remaining one and one half miles to stay as they are...
and whereas there has been no recorded accident on this road in the past five years...
and whereas the Rappahannock County Comprehensive Plan calls for saving exactly this kind of unpaved, narrow, meandering road...
Therefore be it resolved that the county’s supervisors remove this portion of Yancey Road from the current Six Year Plan for secondary roads...
and be it further resolved that the supervisors move quickly to designate which other unpaved, narrow and meandering roads they would like to preserve so as to maintain the rural character of our county.

Auction was
big success
I would like to thank my hard-working Board of Directors and the many local merchants who donated time, talent, money and major items to our Fall Auction & Party event.
This fundraiser brought in over $11,000 for our scholarship fund. Of the 114 children that the Child Care and Learning Center is serving, 37 are receiving tuition assistance.
The money to fund scholarships that enable families who cannot afford full tuition to attend our program comes from private donations and fundraising events like this auction.
It is only through continued community support that we can serve families from diverse socio-economic backgrounds.
We plan to host another auction next fall to raise money for this worthy cause. We are beginning now to solicit donations of antiques, rugs, vintage collectibles and artwork. We have the facility to store these items until next fall.
Please help us make next year’s auction as successful by donating quality items.
If you have items you can donate, we can help pick them up and store them at your convenience.
