Fund drive underway at Chester Gap
The Chester Gap Volunteer Fire Department is having a special fund drive for the next several weeks in cooperation with Community Support Services. Families will be contacted by phone and asked to make a pledge. Each family that pledges receives a beautiful 10x13 canvas mount portrait, compliments of the fire department. Aerobic classes slated

Beekeepers to meet
The Northern Piedmont Beekeepers Association will hold its November meeting at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 18 at the Culpeper Cooperative Extension Service building at the corner of Davis Street and South West Street, Culpeper. New 4-H clubs to begin
Do you like the fascinating world of electricity? If you are between the ages of 9 and 19 and would like to join the new 4-H Electricity Project Club, please call the office to sign up, 675-3619. This club will meet after school in the Extension Office once a month.
Pot luck dinner planned
The PTO meeting and Italian pot luck dinner will be held on Friday, Nov. 12 at the elementary school cafeteria. The dinner will be from 6 to 7 p.m. and the meeting from 7 to 8 p.m. All RCES parents are invited to attend.
Flu shot dates announced
Rappahannock County Health Department is offering flu shots at the following times: Nov. 15 from 9 to 11 a.m. and Nov. 30 from 9 to 11 a.m. Flu shot cost is $7 for the general public. Pneumonia shots are recommended for those 65 and over and the cost is $14 for the general public. For additional information call 675-3516.
Concert at The Theatre slated
Camerata Cantores, 24 voice madrigal group directed by Helen Dill and Brass Classique, brass quartet directed by Richard Dill will be in concert on Nov. 19 at 8 p.m. at The Theatre at Washington, Va. Tickets are $10 each with seniors and students only $7 each. For ticket information call 937-4044.
Pre-season poinsettia sale
Once again the Trinity Church Garden Guild is holding its pre-Christmas sale of top florist quality poinsettias to benefit further development of the new Middle Street Memorial Garden. Poinsettias are available in either red or white, in pot sizes from 6 1/2 to 8 inches. Prices range from $15 to $40. To place an order, please call the church office (675-3716) before Nov. 23. Order blanks are available at the office and in the church vestibule. Pick-up will be at the Parish Hall on Friday, Dec. 3, between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Order early for the best specimens. Census testing site selected
Census 2000 testing site will be held at the Rappahannock Library on Dec. 1 at 7 p.m. Please bring two forms of legal identification. The event is open to adults 18 and over. For more information call 825-8664.
Autumn tennis instruction
Anyone interested in tennis lessons should contact Hunt Harris at the Ragged Mountain Resource Center, 987-3366. He will be offering a limited number of sessions this autumn for adults as well as youth on all levels (beginner through advanced competition). There is a sliding-scale fee system based on the number of participants in a group, and individual instruction is also available.

Work on display at Jordan s gallery
A new resident to Rappahannock County, Margot Schnitzer de Neuhaus, will be showing her work at June Jordan’s Packing Shed Gallery in Washington now through Nov. 27. The work consists of sculptures made of wood and stone, and paintings made of western and oriental paper marked with sumi, Japanese ink. June Jordan’s Packing Shed Gallery is located at the Packing Shed Corner on Gay and Porter Streets in Washington. The regular hours are 12:30 to 6 p.m., Wednesday through Sunday.
