5K race scheduled
On Saturday, Dec. 18 the Shenandoah Valley Runners Club will host the Jingle Bell 5K at Blandy Experimental Farm near Boyce. The race will start at 9:30 a.m. Registration begins one hour earlier.
Entry fees are $3 for members; $4 for non-members and $1 for students. Runners of all abilities are welcome. Call 675-4041 or 662-3381 for more information.
American Legion to host party
On Friday, Dec. 17 the Culpeper American Legion Post 330, located just north of the Culpeper High School on Route 229 has scheduled a Christmas party for all members, friends and guests of the legion.
Dinner is served from 6 to 8 p.m. The public is always invited. Meal cost are $5 for members and $6.50 for nonmembers. Call 825-9835 for menu. Music after dinner is furnished by the ever popular “Boilers.”
Fundraiser under xu ay
The Rappahannock County High School Athletic Boosters are beginning their main fundraiser of the year.
For a donation of only $20 you could be eligible to win a grand prize of $1,000; a second place prize of $750 or a third place prize of $250. Prizes will be given away at the last boy’s basketball game in December. You do not need to be present to win. There will be only 200 tickets printed.
Proceeds benefit the athletes at the high school and the athletic department. Tickets are available from any RCHS coach, at any home game or from any of the following Booster Club members: Nancy and Calvin Atkins, Monte and Lisa Clinedinst or Cheryl Taylor.
Peter Kater at Airlie Farm Dec. 17
Contemporary Pianist/Composer Peter Kater will spread Christmas cheer at a concert Dec. 17 at 7:30 p.m. at the Manor House at Airlie Farm sponsored by Dr. Charles V. Nicolai, DC of the Warrenton Chiropractic Center.
Kater, a resident of Rappahannock, whose album Compassion netted him the New Age Voice Best Meditation album for 1998, will bring his blend of classical training, jazz and smooth energy to Christmas music as well as old favorites.
Tickets for the concert are $12 in advance and $15 at the door. Advance tickets are available by calling 351-6191 or New Leaf Book Store on Main Street in Warrenton.
