John Richard Turner, 56, of Washington died Sunday, Dec. 5 in the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Martinsburg, West Va.
Mr. Turner was born Sept. 23, 1943 in Washington, the son of James Alfred Turner of Washington and the late Lucey Mildred Timbers Turner.
Mr. Turner was a graduate of the George Washington Carver High School and had five years of duty with the U.S. Army.
He was a construction worker.
In addition to his father, survivors include a sop, John “John John” Richard Turner Jr. of Leesburg; two daughters, Alyssa Carol Turner and Beverly Janel Turner, both of Leesburg; one brother, Haywood Turner of Warrenton; four sisters, Anna Brabam of Philadelphia, Pa., Virginia Little and Lucille Head, both of Pittsburg, Pa. and Mary Fletcher of Washington and four grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted at the Promise Land Church near Washington on Friday, .Dec. 10 with the Rev. John Pendleton.
Interment followed at the Macedonia Cemetery in Flint Hill.
Active pallbearers were Charles Jordan, Jerry Turner, Glenn Fletcher, Javis Fletcher, Charles Head and Sonny Gatewood.
Honorary pallbearers were Robert Bailey, Walter Frye, George Turner and Timmy Clanagan.
Arrangements were handled by ' TumerRobertshaw Funeral Home in front Royal.

Clarence Henry Deal, 48, of Warrenton died Dec. 6 at Fauquier Hospital in Warrenton.
He was born July 31, 1951 in Charlottesville to the late Hugh Robert Deal and Mabel Jenkins Deal.
