French students at Wakefield Country Day School presented a program for the holiday season last Wednesday at the school’s weekly assembly. The program contained readings from Fra Giovanni’s letter of 1513 urging citizens to “Take Joy!” '
The program included a violin prelude by Handel performed by Elizabeth Williams of Flint Hill. A procession on the Three Kings accompanied by camels was followed by a performance of lower school students singing French carols and celebrating the season with a courtier dance. Upper school French students dramatized the coronation of King Charlemagne on Christmas Day in the year 800 A.D.
Musical accompaniment for the program was provided by the Espinola family, Lorraine, Nicole and Evan of Washington. The program was directed by French teachers Diane Wood of Washington and Dr. Marilene Henry.
Wakefield Country Day School wishes all Rappahannock citizens a joyous Noel, “Cherchez la joie!”
