Ellen Manson, a psychiatric nurse, will not seek reappointment from the Board of Supervisors to serve as a member on the Rappahannock-Rapidan Community Services Board (RRCSB). She has held this post for two terms and is finishing her sixth year as a member of the board.
RRCSB serves the following counties: Fauquier, Rappahannock, Madison, Orange and Culpeper, and provides comprehensive aging, mental health, mental retardation, substance abuse and transportation services to the residents of planning district nine.
The Board of Supervisors from each of the five counties is responsible for nominating three representatives to board, which makes them 15 members strong.
Manson says, “What the board does is: they manage the money. The services board hires and supervises the executive director. We’re a large employer in the five county area.”
Funding for RRCSB comes from the following different sources: State, Federal, local, United Way, and private contributions. Currently, the executive director is Brian Duncan and his contract has just been renewed. Manson replies, “He is excellent at what he does.”
