Newbill Miller and Bobby Atkins brought glory to Rappahannock County yesterday at Charlottesville when Newbill’s Angus calf was declared reserve champion and Bobby’s calf won fourth place in the lightweight Angus class. Newbill’s .calf was judged first in lightweight Angus, was awarded first premium in fitting and showing, and was named reserve champion of Angus calves in the show. Newbill is the son of Mr. and Mrs. D.D. Miller of Washington, who are strong in their praise of County Agent W.H. Lyne, by whose encourage; ment and help the boys are doing so well with their - 4-H work. Newbill, 14, has been a 4-H member ever since he was old enough to join. This is his first year with a calf project, and he has had sole care and has kept all the records. Bobby Atkins, son of Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Atkins of Sperryville bought his calf in the fall. It had been bred on the farm of John S. Buckner. The calf won fourth place in the lightweight Angus class. The Lou Keyser Missionary Circle of the Washington Baptist Church will sponsor a Stanley Brush Party on May 4 at the Washington fire house. Captain C.J. Stuart (MC) USN, son of Mrs. W.M. Stuart, was recently appointed to the position of Senior Medical officer of the Receiving Station at Portsmouth.
