James E. “Bud” Smith Sr., 85, of Front Royal died Sunday, April 16 at Warren Memorial Hospital.

Graveside services with military honors were conducted Wednesday, April 19 at Prospect Hill Cemetery by the Rev. William Withers.

Mr. Smith was bom March 31, 1915 in Rappahannock County, son of James Edward and Bertha Jewell Smith.

He was a retired plumber with Fentress L. Pearson Plumbing and Heating.

He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in five campaigns in the European Theatre and receiving five Bronze Stars.

He was the husband of the late Shirley Ruth Miller Smith.

Surviving are a son, James Smith Jr. of Front Royal; three
