Graveside services were conducted Monday, April 24 at Shenandoah Memorial Park by the Rev. Anthony A. Wadsworth.
Mr. Smoot was born Feb. 10, 1931 in Rappahannock County, son of James Henry and Carrie Rutherford Smoot.
He was an Air Force veteran and retired from Rubbermaid Commercial Products.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Catherine Smoot; two sons, Lawrence Smoot of Stephens City and Mark Smoot of Winchester; a daughter, Pamela J. Cross of Winchester; three sisters, Caroline Evins of Milan, 111., Patsy Carpenter of Boyce and Anna Craig of Middletown; a brother, Winfield Smoot of Frederick County and three grandsons.
Arrangements were handled by the Jones Funeral Home in Winchester.

Virginia C. Robey, 53, of Castleton died Saturday, April 22 at her residence.
Mrs. Robey was born Jan. 19, 1947 in Fauquier County, a daughter of Mrs. Elizabeth N. Hiatt of Culpeper and the late Roland Lee Tinder.
