Local favorite Paul Reisler will return for a performance at the Blue Moon Cafe in Sperryville on Friday, April 28, this time in the company of Front Royal vocalist Diane Bardwell.
Paul said that Diane fulfills his need for freshness in music. “It’s always exciting for me . . .not knowing exactly what is going to be happening,” he said.
Diane’s vocal flexibility and interest in Paul’s music have helped create a new dynamic and a new duoone that Paul said will likely last for years. He and Diane are very focused on their music because it is “not second nature yet.”
He met Diane last summer when came to one of his concerts and spoke to him about her interest in his music. She walked away from the concert with a Reisler CD, and returned to last Fall’s “Song Camp Weekend in the County” having learned Paul’s songs. “She liked the songs and learned them,” Paul said. “She learned them well and did them well.”
Her obvious talent and “great music attitude” led to a new collaboration.
Paul and Diane started working together last fall and now have a nearly five hour repertoire-longer, Paul noted, than he has had with any other individual or group.
Paul noted that Diane has a long music history. She made children records in the Eighties, sang with a 1 number of rock bands, and currently 1 performs in a Celtic duo in Front ’ Royal. The upcoming Blue Moon 1 show will feature new Reisler tunes, I
