Event organizers have released a preliminary schedule for the Year 2000 Rappahannock County Relay for Life.
The pre-Relay activities will begin with registration and campsite set-up at 5 p.m. on Friday, May 19 at the Rappahannock Elementary School. There will be music or other entertainment beginning at 6:30 and welcome ceremonies begin at 7. The Relay itself will begin at 7:25 with the “survivors’ lap”. All cancer survivor's are urged to participate in this part of the Relay.
Following the survivors lap, walkers from teams continue the Relay throughout the night and other team members enjoy the activities or sleep or rest at their camp sites. At dark, the Relay track will be lit by luminaries in honor or memory of cancer victims and cancer survivors.
Tradition requires that Rappahannock County events that last more than one hour must have food. So the Relay features a picnic beginning at 7:30 p.m., a Midnight Madness With Pizza at 12 and breakfast at 7 a.m. on Saturday. There are no rules against participants bringing
