May is almost here, and the April showers should be gone. I know we needed the rain but I am ready for the sun and spring.
I hope everybody had a nice Easter break. The kids, I’m sure, are counting down the days to summer vacation.
Speaking of spring, it is the time of year for yard sales. The Amissville United Methodist Church is having its annual yard sale, on Saturday April 29 from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m.
The UMW sponsors the sale; lunch will be available, along with baked goods, small furniture, clothing, baby things and handmade crafts. The church is located on U.S. 211 in Amissville
The Amissville Volunteer Fire Department’s annual spring auction is set for Saturday, May 6 at 10 a.m.
Bill Payne is the auctioneer. The fire company is in need of donations of unwanted, but in good condition, items. Clean out your closets, attics and basements.

Make plans to be at Hackley’s Country Store on Saturday, May 6 at 4 p.m.
Debbie Zinn and Jake Butler will be there and all are invited to bring your instruments, so you can play along. Also, bring a lawn chair. Debbie’s new CD is available at Hackley’s.
