“Village alternatives” will then be developed, he said. Each alternative will have pros and cons defined, as well as a definition of the impact of the alternative on the County and the Amissville community in areas including: population growth potential, roads, land preservation, the retention of the rural character, tourism and taxes. The process is well underway, with, more than two hundred survey forms returned, nearly one hundred historical sites identified, data collection ongoing in numerous areas, and feasibility investigations ongoing for “low impact business opportunities.”
Commission activities
Regular Planning Commission activities included the review and positive recommendation of applications by the Massanova Pentecostal Church for an addition and by Edward and Deloris Payne for a family apartment.
The Rev. L. D. Savage spoke on behalf of the Massanova Pentecostal Church which is located on Aaron Mt. Road in Castleton. He said that “contractors in the church [membership] think that the structure is questionable” and the church thus has applied to remove the “old” por- • tion of the church and replace it with a larger, “more comfortable and accessible” facility.
