My husband and I have
several children currently attending Hearthstone School in Castleton. The first time we visited the school we thought that we had arrived at the wrong place. To us it appeared to be a very well maintained working farm.
Hearthstone School does not have the appearance of a traditional school. Therefore, it blends beautifully with the bucolic setting and preserves the rural quality of its environments. Nothing could be more lovely to behold than happy children learning and playing while surrounded by nature, animals and fresh air.
The children of Hearthstone are taught to respect the environment and to take care of it. Their teachers make courteous and ideal neighbors. I truly believe that these Hearthstone traits make it an asset to the neighboring community.
The Maazels demonstrate their generosity to the Rappahannock community by allowing Hearthstone School to thrive, free of rent on their farm. The Maazels have made it possible for many children From all walks of life to attend Hearthstone. It is not a money-making enterprise, but father an outpouring of love and devotion to the children who come within its embracing arms.
