Miss Virginia 2000, Jacqueline Sydney Cook, age 24 of Colonial Heights will make her first public appearance in Flint Hill at the firemen's annual parade on Friday, July 2ETThe parade begins at 6:45 p.m.
Miss Cook is a graduate of James Madison University and has been accepted to and will attend the T.C. Williams School of Law at the University of Richmond.
The firemen's carnival will be held tonight, July 26 through Saturday, July 29 at the carnival grounds. Five Star Amusements will once again be providing rides and concessions.
Tonight, Wednesday, is family night and you can ride until closing for $8. All other nights, rides are $10 for an all-you-can ride ticket. The carnival starts at 7 each evening.
Wayne Blosser is again providing his "famous" chicken barbecue dinners on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights and the Ladies Auxiliary will provide fine food and baked goods each evening.
Saturday night will be crowning of the carnival queen and the awarding of the prizes, which include $2,000; $1,000; $500 and a purebred Black Angus heifer.
The community is encouraged to attend this annual affair.
