fair that you can't help them all. Having been the D.A.R.E. officer for eight years now, most of the kids know me to a degree. Even seniors have known me since the fourth grade. It presents the police in a much different role. They understand that its not somebody to be scared of, or who’ll give you a ticket. Over my years I've been in restaurants, and heard, "if you don't eat your spinach that officer over there is going to throw you in jail" and a kids reaction is "what kind of a person is that, who would do that?" That’s an easy misperception that parents can bestow upon their children.
