A very important gathering of Lions of all ages assembled at the Rappahannock Park on Thursday, July 13.
Every year in July the Rappahannock County Lions Club holds its annual picnic with wives, kids, friends and neighbors, hot dogs, hamburgers, covered dishes, delicious desserts and cold drinks. No one goes home hungry or thirsty, but it isn't just for family fun, though there's plenty of that.
It is also the most meaningful meeting of the year because the new slate of club officers and board members for the next year of community service is officially installed and sworn in for active duty. It’s usually a moment when the outgoing president breaths a big sigh of relief and gets to be the "immediate past president."
His Honor, the Mayor of Culpeper, Waller Jones, who also holds the high office of Zone Chairman and has been an active Lion for as long as anyone can remember conducted the installation honors
