recommendations
RCHS teacher Brion Patterson presented a faculty committee s recommendations on SOL-related "Promotion, Retention, and Acceleration. The recommendations, with the addition of a addendum by the Superintendent, were adopted as a school regulation, and were endorsed unanimously by the School Board. The recommendations, as summarized, provide course credits for graduation when a course has been passed and the SOL test passed, and when the course has been passed but the SOL test failed, but do not provide credits in cases where the SOL test has been passed and the course failed or, obviously, when both have been failed. The recommendations also provide for incentives including exam exemption in the event a student passes an SOL test (and scores are received in time), and grade point bonuses for SOL test passing.
