We had to go up Keyser Run Road, or as some of the old maps call it Covers Road, to get where we could distinguish the "Flats."
This was a very unusual day because the mountain does play tricks with the weather. The farther we traveled the more snow we ran into. The trees and weeds looked like Mother Nature had turned everything into patterns of what looked like lace. The road was covered with snow in places with only a few tracks from the hikers we met earlier. They were enjoying the beauty of the day as well as we were.
We had to stop quite a few times and remove the fallen trees and limbs from the road. Wayne had come prepared with an ax and clippers. He had learned this from previous times.
We stopped at the Bolen cemetery, I had never been there in the winter. It is such a beautiful and peaceful place.
