up talking to himself and looking messy! Herb fell asleep in this film, not a good sign.
• Erin Brockovich: Rated R, over two hours, 1999. Herb did not fall asleep watching this movie, the lovely Julia Roberts in a Wonder Bra, five inch heels, and little bitty skirts.
This film received so much publicity you probably all know the story, but it's a very pleasant movie to watch, Albert Finney is fabulous as a lawyer who ultimately gives the downtrodden Erin a job and she becomes a big hero by discovering that chromium is poisoning a community's water.
Meanwhile, she and her (three, I think ) kids struggle with life, bad boyfriends and child care. In the feel-good ending, the bad guys get caught, Erin's nice boyfriend returns, and she gets a huge monetary bonus, all the while looking like a tart. (There's a lesson here ladies, cautions Naomi, even if you're as beautiful as Julia Roberts, looking like a tart is not a career boost!)
• Agnes Browne: 92 minutes, 1999,rated R(produced and directed by Angelica Huston, who also stars). We absolutely loved this film, it is terrific on many levels. It's about love, loss, friendship, honor and hope. Set in 1967 Dublin, Ireland, the newlywidowed Agnes must borrow money from a loan shark to pay for her husband's funeral.
The Shylock is truly an evil individual, who gloats about the power he wields over his "customers."
