He was bom May 13, 1925 in Rappahannock County, a son of the John T. Woodward and Lena Mae Hoffman Woodward.
He was a retired farmer and a charter member of Castleton Volunteer Fire Department.
Mr. Woodward was a member of the Gourdvine Baptist Church and a former Superintendent of Sunday School.
Survivors include his wife, Melzie S. Woodward of Castleton; a son, John Henry Woodward Sr. and his wife Peggy of Castleton; four daughters, Darlene Conover and her husband Clint of Lima, Ohio, Diane Myers and her husband Jackie of Rixeyville, Dale Grimsley and her husband Walter of Castleton and Donna Sheads and her husband Randy of Rixeyville.
Also surviving are ten grandchildren; eight greatgrandchildren and a brother, Roger S. Woodward and his wife Wilda of Alexandria.
Funeral services were conducted on Thursday, Dec. 7 at Clore-English Funeral Home in Culpeper with the Rev. John Miller and Rev. Marshall Braylo. Burial was at Fairview Cemetery.
Grandsons served as pallbearers.
