volleyball teams were home for the District opener against visiting Strasburg High School. It was not a good night for the Lady Panthers as both the Varsity and JV squads lost their matches to the Strasburg teams in two straight games.
Afterwards, Head Coach Stan Brooks Jr. said, "We were just tired. The girls were worn out from two games on the road. They just didn't have the energy they needed to compete. Three games in a row is probably not a good idea. I talked to the Athletic Director about this and he agrees."
On Friday, Dec. 8 the Lady Panthers found themselves back on the road as they traveled to Brentsville High School for their fourth game of the week. The Varsity played better, but lost two games 15-7 and 15-12.
The JV Lady Panthers also fell short, losing two straight games and the match to the Brentsville JV squad. After the week was over, Coach Brooks reflected and said, "It was a tough week, four games, three on the road, in five days is a tough schedule. But we can not feel sorry for ourselves. We have too many unforced errors, our serve percentage is too low and we aren t focusing on where we should be and what we should be doing. It all adds up to failure to get the job done. We re a much better team than our record shows and we ll get there. I believe in our system and I believe in these girls. I don't want them to lose their confidence and not believe in themselves. We need to forget about last week and move forward."
Wrestling
The wrestlers traveled to Stonewall Jackson High School in Manassas for a quad scrimmage involving wrestlers from four high schools. Represented were the RCHS first year team, and the JV squads from Stonewall Jackson High School, Brooke
