The Jamieson Room, the library’s meeting space for innumerable country groups as well as the home for our popular "Friday Night Program" series, has also benefited from past fund drives. We were able to purchase tables, a slide projector, and a TV/VCR.
The Friends have also been a vital force in improving the library grounds. They were instrumental in the paving of the driveway in 1996. One of this year's goals is to complete the landscaping project currently underway. The project includes replacing some trees and bushes, and replanting and maintaining the flower bed.
Cheri Woodard, current President of the nine member Friends Board of Directors, says, "We have a great library, and I'm very proud of what we have been able to accomplish. I'm really grateful to everyone who has contributed. I'm looking forward to great things, and I hope everyone considers becoming a Friend."
Besides the satisfaction of knowing you've helped improve the library, your contribution to the FOL entitles you to preview the annual July 4th book sale. The preview takes place the night before the sale and gives you a chance to buy some books before all the "good stuff' is gone.
To become a Friend, simply send a check to: Friends of the Library, P.O. Box 55, Washington, Va., 22747. Your name will be added to our mailing list. So, consider becoming a Friend. You'll help to improve the library both inside and out and your generosity will be very much appreciated.
