The first hike of the fall season and a chinquapin hunt is scheduled by the Rappahannock Hiking club for Oct. 1. All who are interested in going may meet at Hope Hill near Castleton. According to Mr. Raymond Johnson, leader and Chief Forest Warden, a good “patch” of chinquepins has been located.
1 During the first week in October a door to ! door canvass will be made for funds for the Shenandoah District Boy Scouts of America. Rappahannock County is in this district. The Sperryville Fire Company is . conducting the canvass in that village; the ! Rappahannock Rescue will head the drive in the Washington area and Randolph Foster has the chairmanship in the Flint Hill vicinity. There are three Boy Scout Troops in the county.
