On Wednesday, Oct. 3 the Tbwn Council has called for a special meeting to consider, and vote, on taking a $10,000 nonrefundable option for six months regarding this property. The option is ostensibly to allow for perk tests as well as for time to obtain a financing package or partners for the purchase.
The Avon Hall structure is currently in need of serious maintenance ancf upkeep. Some of it requiring attention and action before winter sets in, if the value (?) of the property is to be maintained. In addition the Avon Hall property consists of three tenant houses all of which are in considerable need of maintenance and repair.
I do not believe that it is in the best interest of the Tbwn that it become a real estate investor and landlord with all the burdens hereto attached. I also do not believe that there is a provision in the budget for the acquisition of real property without an amendment to the current budget. Such an amendment would surely require a duly advertised public hearing.
