The Flint Hill United Methodist Church held their homecoming services at the fire hall on Sunday with approximately 80 to 100 in attendance.
The event began with a covered dish dinner followed by a very inspirational program of songs and poems by the Shorb brothers, Happy Shorb, Will Shorb and Happy’s son, Dana Shorb of Layhill, Md. One of the songs they sang was written by their brother, the Rev. Merlin Shorb and a poem which was written by Will.
Rev. Shorb mentioned that 75 years ago Mabel Wilson Lillard, Nellie Lillard Pritchett and Russie Reid Miller, all joined the Flint Hill Methodist Church.
Among the familiar faces in attendance were Shelton Lawson and Harvey Bradford of Hagerstown, Md., Kathleen Nicholson, Eleanor Beverage, Elizabeth Clatterbuck, Alice Virginia Butler, and Ed and Pat Marcey, all of the Front Royal area, Evelyn Walker of Culpeper, Denise Bullett and Tyler of Connecticut, Jennifer Zuppas and twins, Zoe and Nicholas of Gaithersburg, Md. and also members joining them from the Willis Chapel and Sperryville United Methodist Churches.
Happy Shorb spoke of family, love and our nation.
