A reminder: If you want to vote this November for our next Governor, Lieutenant Governor and Attorney General, you must be registered to vote by 5 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 9. If you voted in Rappahannock in the Presidential election, you are already registered. If you have any questions or need forms, contact the Registrar, Nancy Newlin, at 675-3739.

You are also welcome to contact the local Democratic Committee for Voter Registration Applications, Absentee Ballot Application Forms, and brochures on voting in Virginia, all published by the State Board of Elections. Fire and rescue picnic slated

The Rappahannock County Fire and Rescue picnic will be held on Sunday, Oct. 7 at 1 p.m. at the Flint Hill fire department. Everyone is invited. Those attending should bring a covered dish. Drinks will be provided. Featured events will include guest speakers, Air Care helicopter, antique fire trucks, state of the art 2001 fire truck, games for old and young and fun for the entire family.

Blue Moon schedule

Carsie, who recorded the song Blue Valentine on the CD “Tidal Wave of Song”, will appear at the Blue Moon Cafe in Sperryville on Friday, Sept. 28 at 9 p.m. Carsie’s unique vocal style has mesmerized audiences since she began performing professionally at the age of 13. Singer/songwriter Amy Silver will play an opening set. There will be a $5 cover charge.

Lovewreck will perform on Saturday, Sept. 29. Open Mic is held each Thursday evening. Blue Moon Cafe is located on US 211, just west of Sperryville. For more information call 987-3162.
