Last year, Sheriff Larry Sherertz initiated the “Save Our Schools” project, which involved enforcement of the 35-mph speed limit imposed twice-a-day on U. S. 211 in front of county's two public schools.
The project has returned again this year, but with one big difference: there was no public announcement, which might have warned potential speeders.
As a result, Rappahannock County Sheriff’s Office personnel wrote 19 speeding tickets for speeding in the school zones during the week of Sept. 10-14, and an additional four the week of Sept. 17-21.
