Beth and Lee Levick designed and built this lovely contemporary home north of Flint Hill on Hittles Mill Road. Situated on a 25-acre tract, originally part of the Mellon Orchard, it is one of the three houses on tour this year.
The Levicks designed their house to incorporate contemporary beauty and low maintenance. They used modern technology, such as radiant heat, and building materials of blue stone, copper guttering, and stucco.
Approaching the house from the rear, you come through the “porte cochere” with its arched ceiling and skylights. The house, with its simple styling and massive windows, evokes a spacelike quality.
The house has an open, flowing quality that seemingly brings the spectacular mountain views inside. The “great room” is the central living area of the house. With its dramatic fireplace and warm woods, one gets the feeling of complete serenity.
The principles of the philosophy of Feng Shui has been integrated with the contemporary building design. An intuitive art, Feng Shui dates back at least 3000 years. Its intent is to instill the creation of harmony and balance around us. The curved ceiling, walls and many windows are examples of this ancient art.
