In the Rappahannock Heritage photo, Eighth grader Sarah Wayland and teacher Susan Henry wash cars at Rappahannock High last weekend to benefit “Rappsody,” the high school yearbook. Spring Mountain School, which started several years ago as a playgroup at the home of a family in Old Hollow, hopes to expand next month into the former Washington High School building on Mount Salem Avenue in Washington. Bethany Craig, Spring Mountain coordinator, said this week that the school will be applying for a special use permit, and if approved at the Oct. 9 Town Council meeting, she hopes to start classes at the site Oct. 10.
Beverly S. Atkins, Commissioner of Revenue for Rappahannock County, has been awarded the title Certified Commissioner of the Revenue under a program administered by the University of Virginia’s Center for Public Service and Division of Continuing Education. The program, which takes a minimum of three years to complete, requires a combination of extensive education and governmental experience.
