On Dec. 15 the Flint Hill community held a breakfast to honor Mrs. Mabel Lillard for her dedication to her church and community activities.
She was given a beautiful platter made by Meryl Strange and presented by Barbara Gentry. Dick Brady provided the entertainment and Jean Lillard related some amusing family stories.
Mrs. Lillard has been a member of the Flint Hill Methodist Church for 75 years, a long-time member of the church choir, the official board of the church, and Women Society of Christian Service, a charter and still active member of the Flint Hill Ladies Auxiliary, and a ten year volunteer for the Rappahannock Elementary School Library.
She retired as Postmaster of the Flint Hill Post Office in 1981.
Approximately 100 of her family and friends attended the buffet country breakfast prepared by the team of Libby Bennett, Mary Curtis, Arland Welch, Shelby Welch, Bud and Virginia Corder, M.H. Brady, Harlan and Ann Jones, Louise McCulloch and Dwight Matthews.
The entire village and community at large expresses a word of thanks to Mrs. Lillard for her service, kindness and generosity to the town of Flint Hill and the surrounding area.
