Ragged Mom}tain activities

The following activities are scheduled for the month of January through Ragged Mountain Resource Center. For additional information call Director Hunt Harris at 987-3366.

• Saturday. Jan. 12. Second Saturday Hike. White Oak Canyon/Cedar Run. meet at Mountainside Market. 987-9100. on US 211 west of Sperryville between 8 and 8:30 a.m.. caravan to White Oak Canyon parking lot for White Oak/Cedar Run loop with possible Hawksbill option. Return mid-to-late afternoon Bring layerable clothing and food/water.

• Sunday. Jan. 27. Moonlight Hike of Old Rag Mountain, meet at upper parking lot for Old Rag on Nethers side (off Route. 231 and Route.600) between 6:30-7 p.m. Bring layerable clothing, food and water and a backup headlamp or flashlight if cloudy.

Karate classes to begin

Shorin-Ryu Okinawan Karate classes will begin on Wednesday. Jan 9 at Ki Theater^, on Gay Street in Washington. Junior classes will be held each Wednesday from 4 to 6 p.m and adult classes on Monday from 5 to 6:30 p.m. For additional information call Betsy Toth at 349-0632 or Arthur Drago at 635-7554.

Spring registrations accepted

The Rappahannock Soccer League is currently accepting 2002. spring soccer registrations. They are available at the Rappahannock Library and the Washington Post Office Kiosk.

Fees are S35 for first player and S20 for each additional family member. Some scholarships available. Volunteers are needed for coaching and an adult referee. Call the Registrar, Laura Dodd at 547-2968 for more information. The final day to register is Feb. 15. 2002.

Clinic will be open Jan 16

The Rappahannock Free Clinic, a local operation of the Fauquier Free Clinic Inc., is currently open on the first, third and fifth Wednesdays of each month The clinic will be open Wednesday, Jan 16 and again on Jan. 30.

Patient registration is from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m at the Rappahannock County Public Health Department Building. For additional information call 347-0394.

The Rappahannock-Rapidan Community Services Board invites persons 60 years of age and older to participate in the following Health Promotion/Screening programs to be held at the Rappahannock Senior Nutrition Center:

On Jan. 28 at 9:30 a.m. program on Heart Attack Risk by Cheryll Green of the Health Department 12-hour fasting suggested and

On Jan. 29 at- 11:30 a.m. blood pressure screening and health talk by Melinda Beach. Public Health Nurse.
