The -JV Lady Panthers, idle over the holiday break, opened their evening at George Mason with some determined play in all facets of the game. With steady serving, good defense and hustle, they put away the opposing -JV Lady Mustang squad two games to none <15-9. 15-6) to win the match.
Wrestling
The RCHS Varsity .Wrestling Team made a strong statement to teams across the state that they are no longer a new team. In a six team holiday tournament held Friday. Dec. 28 at Riverheads High School, the Panther grapplers went four and one as a team and brought home their first varsity trophy.
The tournament featured teams from all four Regions in the Virginia State High School League system — Region A. Mathews HS: Region B. Rapp. Madison County, and Riverheads high schools; Region C. Radford HS: and Region I). Powell Valiev HS.
Rapp opened with a strong 54-26 team win over Powell Valley High School. Recording wins in that match-up were Brian Brown. -Jonathan Robinson. Max Haynes. -Johnny Ferdetta. Stuart Hensley. Garner Smythe, Eric Swirman.
