He was horn in Deltaville. \’a. on -Jan. 0. 1912. the son of Olivia -Jane and William H Norton.
After receivin': hi- bachelors decree from Mar-hall University. he taught at We-t Point. Va. and Amelia County. Va.
During World War II. he served with the Air Force as a, weather forecaster for four years before returning to the Amelia County Rubin- School System a.- a School Administrator.
JJe subsequently received a master's decree from the University of Virmnia and served as Superintendent of Schools from 19a7 until 1991 In 19bl. he relocated with his family to Front Royal, to become Superintendent of Schools in Warren arid Rappahannock Counties.
A life-long educator. Mr. Norton retied as Superintendent of Schools for Warren and Rappahannock Counties in 11*79-77. and continued his contribution to the community through his membership in the Front Royal United Methodist Church and participation in volunteer activities and civic organizations.
Mr. Norton and hi- wife. Ruth moved from Front Royal in 1995. and lived in Deltaville' and then Richmond, where Mrs. Norton died in 199s He moved to Roanoke in guild with his daughter. Fllen and her family.
In addition to his wife, he was also predeceased bv all of his 11 siblings.
He is survived by daughters. Carter Norton Dean of Deltaville. Martha Norton Garland of Charlottesville.
