Jackson’s unit marched from Jeffersonton directly through Amissville turning north on Hinsons Ford Road toward the battle of Second Manassas. In fact, the Amissville area saw many troop activities during the war including a number of combat actions.

The winner of “Old Jack” was Lizora Miller of Sperryville. Her son, Cliff Miller, said he bought the ticket knowing she already had a place for it over her fireplace.
