A preview sale will be held on Friday 28, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., but unlike past events, the preview sale will not be restricted to Friends of the Library members and donors.
This year, anyone who wishes to pay the $10 admission fee can have “first crack” at the collection too. Ms. Woodard noted that, among other enticing selections, there is an “estate quality” fly Fishing collection available.
Library Treasurer John McCarthy reported that he implemented the Board’s April decision, and placed $100,000 of the library’s investment fund in a long-term growth program under the management of First Union Securities of Warrenton, and placed the balance of the investment fund, with the exception of existing T-bills, in a moderate-to-long term growth mutual fund under management of the same Firm.
The Board’s April motion called for these investments to be tried for a one-year period, with quarterly evaluations by the Board of Trustees.
During his report. Library Director David Shaffer noted that $1,000 had been donated in memory of Henry Magruder Keyser Jr., who passed this past April 15. The donated funds will be used for book purchases.
Mr. Shaffer also reported that Children's Librarian Jennifer Glenn is continuing her efforts in Summer Program planning, and a program announcement will be made'when the planning has been completed.
