For two RCHS teams and three individual track athletes, the beat goes on.
The boy’s soccer team and the girl’s softball team made it through Bull Run District Tournament competition and will continue play this week in the Regionals.
Three track athletes from the school qualified at the Regional Track Championship Meet and will participate in the State Track Championships at the end of the week.
Baseball
The Varsity finished their season with a 7 to 0 defeat at Manassas Park in the quarterfinals of the Bull Run District Tournament.
Softball
The Varsity had a great week to finish district play with two wins and another championship.
On Thursday, May 23 they defeated Brentsville before a home crowd in a semifinal tournament game.
The final score was 10 to 4, but the outcome was never in doubt, as the Lady Panthers set the tone for the game with a four-run, first inning outburst.
After that, it was clear that the reigning State Champions did not intend to be beaten in their own backyard.
Gwen Johnson, Brittany Thornhill, Jamie Deal, Rachel Sharp, and Lara Kreyling all had hits in that big first inning.
