After last week’s tough shootout loss to George Mason for the number one seed position, the Panther’s had a tough road ahead to move on.
Junior Ralph Pace had a goal and exchange student, Komei Nakamura added two as the Panthers defeated the visiting Strasburg Rams 3 to 1 in the district quarterfinal game.
That Tuesday, May 21 victory set the stage for another tough game with the always dangerous Tigers from Brentsville.
The game would be played at George Mason’s field on Thursday, May 23.
The Rapp side had split with the Tigers in the regular season and this game would determine who would go on as the number two seed from the district in the Regional “B” playoffs.
It was a hard played game from whistle to whistle.
In the end, Rapp got it’s goal from Ralph “the scoring machine” Pace.
That lone goal, together with total team defense and some scrappy, old-fashion hustle preserved the victory and catapulted the Panthers into the Regionals.
Not to be overlooked was the superb play by first-year goalie, junior Jeremy Graves.
