Bertha Brisco

Born at Amissville

Bertha Carey Brisco, 96, of Middletown, formerly of White Post, died Saturday, May 25 at Winchester Medical Center.

She was born July 17, 1905 in Amissville, daughter of the late Robert Carey and Annie Phillips Carey. She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Brisco was a member of the Guilfield Baptist Church in Millwood, where she was on the Usher Board. She was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary and the Burden Bear Club.

On Jan. 9, 1926, she married Leroy Brisco in Amissville, who predeceased her Jan. 11, 1995.

Survivors include two daughters, Louvenia Ross of Middletown and Julia Smith of Berryville and two sons, Robert Brisco of Winchester and Sylvester Brisco of Berryville.

Also surviving are 25 grandchildren; 37 greatgrandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted on Wednesday, May 29 at Guilfield Baptist Church in Millwood by the Rev. Lindsay Green and Rev. Harold L. Brown Sr.

Burial was in Love and Charity Cemetery in Millwood.

Arrangements were handled by Enders & Shirley Funeral Home in Berryville.
