Community invited to join
in a day of educational fun
Drug Abuse Resistance Education (DARE) and Field Day will be observed at Rappahannock County Elementary School on Friday, May 31 under the direction of our School and Resource Officer Captain Jeff Brown. The event will be held from 9:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. Captain Brown hosted the 12th annual DARE graduation last Tuesday evening for sixth graders and this Friday will mark the seventh annual DARE Day in Rappahannock. Each year the event has grown by leaps and bounds and this year promises to be the best yet. Over fifty exhibitors plan to attend the event and Rappahannock residents are encouraged to attend this educational fun-filled day for students and adults. Field Day activities will be held at the same time under the direction of Ms. Carol Nowakoski. These events will be held on the hill between the Elementary School and the School Board Office and will run from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Again, parents are encouraged to come out and cheer for their child and others as they participate in these events. Who makes this day come together for Rappahannock’s children? Lots of volunteers but without the guidance of Captain Brown such a day wouldn’t be possible. So when you see Captain Brown on the school’s grounds Friday say a word of thanks. He works countless hours to make sure that our children have a DARE Day that far exceeds what neighboring counties provide.
