8th grade band
This group will rehearse on alternate days as part of the RCHS Band. Special attention will be given to scale work and learning to march; personal practice of 45 minutes per day or more are needed to play at the VMEA 3-4 levels and beyond.
SOL requirements for middle school are still appropriate regarding testing and grading. They will observe the same regimen as the RCHS band with concert music and mandatory parades, football games, and opportunities for honor bands.
RCHS Band
9th thru 12th
This group will rehearse on alternate days, in the 4th full block. Music of VMEA grades 3-5 will require 45 minutes or more of personal practice per day to accomplish successfully. The first six weeks involve marching, learning a pre-game show and half-time for the mandatory high school football games, memorizing music and marching in several mandatory parades (VA State Fair, Oct. 5, Woodstock Celebration,
