our community, reaching out to our country and the world.”

On Thursday, Aug. 22 at the Washington Town Hall, in a simple format, you’ll be able to come in, sit in silence and go as you please.

Three years ago, Anjee McPherson brought the World Peace Flame to Rappahannock. On this evening, we will relight our candle from this flame. Feel free to bring a candle and light it so you can pass on the flame as well. As far as sitting in the Town Hall, there are benches, chairs and a rug. If you like to sit on the floor, you are welcome to bring a pillow.

There are many ways to sit for peace. It can be by praying, meditating or quietly sitting. The intention is to provide a place for you to dedicate a moment of your life to peace: to give it attention, love and energy so that peace can grow. This event at the Town Hall will give us a chance to gather and feel that other people have the same intention, reviving a sense of connectedness that is truly vital and so desperately needed in our modern society.

During the evening you can also find out more information about the Rappahannock Peace Network. For further information, call Berni Olson at 987-9158.
